The Kardashian sisters had several pals with them on their yacht holiday off the coast of Miami. Kourtney Kardashian was not wearing a bikini while Kim was more than happy to be snapped in a bikini.

A Luxury Yacht for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie?

Around the middle of last summer reports began to surface that superstar actor couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were looking at purchasing a new luxury yacht to be built for them in Italy. (http://www.actressarchives.com/news.php?id=5016 ) Further later reports have stated that these rumors are inaccurate.  Does anyone know whether the famous couple are actually planning to own a superyacht? 

We truly hope they are going to own a boat as a private yacht would be ideal for them to escape the media and paparazzi and enjoy vacations of peace and solitude with their beautiful young family.  Like other famous celebrities, such as Tiger Woods, Eric Clapton, U2’s Bono and Johnny Depp, Brad and Angelina are sure to discover the benefits of a floating paradise away from the crowds.

“Now, it looks like Brangelina are going to start living the rich life on their own, as rumors are swirling that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will purchase a luxury yacht valued at roughly $137 million.

Despite the fact Angelina Jolie has added another child to the always-growing family in the form of Vietnamese toddler Pax Thien Jolie, she and Brad Pitt are reportedly ready to make the big-ticket purchase of a 240ft-long three-deck luxury yacht, according to Monsters and Critics. Roman Abramovich has a fantastic solution for keeping pirates and other unwelcome visitors at arm’s length – a huge megayacht with all the toys imaginable! The Motor Yacht in question is to be called ECLIPSE and she will be the biggest yacht in the world!

Somalian pirates are a serious threat to commercial shipping presently. Mr. Roman Ambrovich is a very well known patron of the yachts and his solution is creating a motor yacht (megayacht ECLIPSE) which is complete with a missile detection system.

First, it will have radar designed specifically to warn of incoming rockets. And of course there will also be armored protection around the wheelhouse and the billionaire’s cabin – along with bullet proof windows.

If pirates do in fact do breach the security cordon and climb on board the beautiful superyacht and Abramovich, 41, can escape through secret corridors to a submersible submarine that is launchable underwater and can dive away to safety, up to 160ft in depth!

Motor yacht Eclipse will be the largest private yacht in the world and is rumoured to be about 508 feet (155 m) to 525 feet (160 m) long – even larger than Ambrovich’s the others in his impressive collection of yachts, such as the 37 foot Pelorus or Sussurro and Ecstase. The motor yacht is due for delivery next summer and is reported to be costing around £200m. She is currently under construction in the Hamburg, Germany by the shipyard Blohm + Voss that produced the famous World War II naval vessel the Bismarck.

Billionaire Roman Abramovich is famous for, amongst other things, being the owner of the Chelsea Football Club.

If you are surprised that such project will still go ahead in this economic climate, then be prepared for more surprise. So far the credit crunch has had little effect on the world of mega-yachts and according to ShowBoats International Magazine, 916 new private luxury yachts longer than 80ft are on order in 2008. This is an 18% rise from last year!

Larry Ellison is the ninth richest man in the world and founder and CEO of Oracle. He’s worth around $18 billion, so he can afford to have a boat of this magnitude, even if it costs millions each year to just maintain it…

The yacht provides a gymnasium/spa and sauna, an extensive wine cellar, a private cinema with a giant plasma screen, a basketball court (like Paul Allen’s yacht) on the main deck which can be used as a helicopter pad if necessary.

This yacht was built for and owned by former Iraq leader Saddam Hussein by a Denmark yacht building company back in 1981. The Middle East dictator was exectuted some years ago.

The yacht is also outfitted with two surgery rooms and a special operation room. The luxury yacht was once equipped with a ground-to-air missile system.  This system is not going to be auctioned.

Legally, the yacht now belongs to the incumbent government of Iraq. Organizers of the auction say that it would be naïve for them to think that the auction market has not been affected with the global credit crisis / crunch.

Microsoft Billionaire Paul Allen loves Luxury Yachts

Last week, former Microsoft boss and co-founder (with Bill Gates) Paul Allen arrived in Mombasa, Kenya on his super yacht.  Microsoft has made vast fortunes in computer software.

Paul Allen loves the luxury yacht and yachting lifestyle.  It’s an ideal way for a billionaire to spend some of his money as he can trip around the world in complete safety and privacy.

In fact Paul Allen’s superyacht is an extraordinary example of a private motor yacht. OCTOPUS is a whopping 416 feet (127 m) – long enough to have secured its position as one of the world’s largest yachts in 2003 when it was launched. The luxury yacht’s is presently eighth in the list of motor yachts by length. Super yacht OCTOPUS is equipped with a music studio and a basketball court.

Philanthropy

The other way Paul Allen spends his cash is by giving it away.  Through the Paul Allen Family Foundation, he awards approximately $30 million in grants annually to organizations related to health and human services, and toward the advancement of science and technology.

It is interesting that Kenya has been visited by several celebrities lately, not just Paul Allen. Naomi Campbell and previous boyfriend Mr Flavio Briatorre were recently sighted holidaying in the Mida Creek in Malindi, East Africa’s largest mangrove creek.  While Superman’s Dean Cain and The Last King of Scotland’s Forest Whittaker enjoyed Kenya’s internationally acclaimed game parks and stayed in the country’s capital Nairobi.

The Italian media have reported that Bono has shelled out millions of euros on a luxury yacht. Management at U2 have declined to comment on the reports.

Bono, a 48 year old famous rock singer for superband U2, one of the world’s best-known humanitarians and leading charity activists, is understood to have bought the superyacht Cyan. The luxury motor yacht was built by the respected Codecasa firm of central Italy.

Until recently, luxury yacht Cyan had a weekly charter price of between €140,000 and €175,000. It had an estimated asking price of over €15m.

“We don’t comment on the private lives of band members,” a spokesperson for the band said in replies to queries about the yacht yesterday.

Bono, his wife Ali Hewson, and their children were on holiday on the yacht last year, and were photographed disembarking when it docked in Naples in August 2007.

The 140 foot motor yacht has six cabins and room for 12 guests to sleep comfortably. Among its features are a large deck space, a Jacuzzi dip pool, a large swimming platform and a garage for holding “watersport toys”.

The interior is constructed with mahogany and limed oak, with each of the rooms fitted with plasma screen tvs, satellite TV, and dvd players.

According to the reports in the Italian media, Bono has repainted the yacht in blue and has an expensive new stereo system fitted. The sale price, however, is not known, with some speculation that it might top €20m.

Even that would be unlikely to put too much pressure on the Dubliner’s bank account, however, as he has an estimated personal wealth approaching €200m.

U2 has sold more than 140 million albums worldwide and will release a new album early next year.

Codecasa, who were founded in 1825 and started out making wooden boats, built the yacht in 1997 for a group of European ship owners and it was extensively refitted in 1999.

The Italian yacht builder has sold yachts in the past to famous names such as fashion designers Giorgio Armani, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.

Giorgio Armani’s yacht, the Mariu, is 210-feet long and when not in use he rents it out with a price tag of €180,000 per week.

Presidential candidate, Senator John Mc Cain has been reported to have been on a luxury yacht in Montenegro near Kotor, Croatia last year. In fact reports are that Mc Cain went aboard no other than Raffaello Follieri’s yacht charter the very day after Follieri plead guilty to multimillion dollar fraud.  The super yacht involved is a beautiful 1979 Feadship luxury motor yacht called Celine Ashley.  More detailed pictures of the yacht are below.

THE NATION (nation.com), considered the oldest US weekly, and which considers itself as a “forerunner of the leftist policies”, ran the McCain Story and photograph.  Here’s what they said:

“In the photograph, taken in Montenegro at the end of August, McCain is shown boarding the yacht ramp towards the smiling Follieri and Hathaway. Just ahead of McCain and shaking hands with Follieri appears to be Rick Davis—McCain’s top aide and now co-manager of his campaign, who accompanied him on the trip and advised the government of Montenegro. A few months after McCain’s yacht party, Follieri strengthened his ties to McCain’s orbit by retaining Rick Davis’s well-connected Washington lobbying firm, Davis Manafort, and offering Davis both an investment deal and help in securing the Catholic vote for McCain’s presidential bid.”

It is also reported that this photograph showing McCain in late August, 2006, celebrating his 70th birthday aboard the luxury yacht.  The megayacht had been chartered by Raffaello Follieri and his a list movie star girlfriend Anne Hathaway.

In the current edition of Vanity Fair, Michael Schnayerson reportes that Follieri rented the charter yacht Celine Ashley for the whole month of August 2006 in the Mediterranean.  Also, Montenegro’s leading daily newspaper, Vijesti, earlier said that during John McCain’s visit in 2006 he celebrated with birthday cocktails and sweets aboard the Celine Ashley luxury yacht.
